Not at all what I expected. There is no rhyme nor reason to the formatting or word list contained in this book. For example, "Abuse" is the first word, followed by "Achievement" and then "Aggrandizement," which part of speech the word is, followed by a list of synonyms and, antonyms. Among those lists are obscure words that would hinder clarity and ease of reading, and be unfamiliar to many readers. This is THE most difficult book to use I have ever come across. If you're looking of ease of use, don't buy this one. It does have the words as listed in an index in the back of the book, but since they are in random order rather than sequential, as is a dictionary, it would have been far more helpful and logical for a writer to find this list in at the beginning rather than at the end. I found the experience of attempting to use this book frustrating and excessively time consuming. I'm sorry I wasted my money on it!

I'm not going to get as much use out of this guy as I'd hoped. There are some great new words to try out--but most are so outlandish--bordering on pretentious, I'm afraid I'll look like a pompous ass using them.

This is a poorly organized book. The content itself is fine, but common words that I am looking to change or augment are usually not there. case in point; the book is missing entries for alternatives to "upset," "rage," or "cold". These seem like really basic words that should be included. Instead of providing synonyms, they spend a lot of more listing off verbs, adjectives, nouns etc. of similar words. As someone who writes short stories, I find this to be an aggravating book to use.

No way to search without scrolling constantly, and the pages jerk from page to page, the only way to search for a particular word is to guess what page it might be on. Too much work to find any word or concept. No search box. It is much easier to use a physical book. I deeply regret buying this item.

I found this thesaurus completely useless!Very limited number of words/groups covered, and impossible to navigate. In the unlikely event that a word you're interested in is actually in here, you'll probably never find it.I spent 20 minutes unsuccessfully trying to find any of three words I was researching (all of which were immediately found in two other thesaurus books), then removed this book from my library. What a waste of $10!

although i look all words up on the computer, this book is so handy and so quick and easy to use when i'm writing anything, that it's by my side all the time now. it's fun to just page through and see how the material is presented...I don't think Mr. Roget would be pleased, but I am!

This thesaurus didn't have as many words in it as I thought it would. The frustrating part was that there aren't synonyms for words like "good" or "happy". The words in the book are words like "kismet" and refulgent". I was disappointed because it wasn't what I was expecting. I was looking for a thesaurus that would give me bigger words to use in place of smaller ones, not huge words to replace bigger words. I will still use it, but I will be looking for another thesaurus to keep on hand.

An excellent collection of alphabetically arranged words to add interest to your writing. Like words are linked together alongside definitions and also the type of word so that there are nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc. that are related to the root word. A great resource for all writers, not just poets like myself.
